With Spring we usually start to see visitors come through Vancouver, which is always a joy for those of us at City Church of Christ.  We cherish these visits, for as Christians, our family is large - extending around the world; because in His Kingdom we have no boundaries or borders, and we know there a millions of brothers & sisters out there serving Our Lord and spreading the Good News, making sacrifices and shining their light.

Joy of Spring

This Spring we have been blessed with a great deal of sunshine and we are certainly praising God for the beauty of all the blossoms.  With Spring we often start to see visitors again - travelers from near and far, sometimes just stopping in for a short visit in Vancouver - on their way to somewhere else.  We cherish these visits, and are reminded that no matter where we are in the world - in His Kingdom, we are many and we are family.

In early May City Church members gathered together for authentic home-cooked Mexican cuisine, perhaps a little too spicy for some, but the fellowship was joyful.  Recently we have been blessed by the presence of our dear sister Jane who lives afar, but joins us for visits when she is in town.  Also joining us this past Sunday we had visitors from Lubbock, Texas - friends of the Sproul family.  The Lord blessed us yet again with a day of clear skies and plenty of sunshine!

Brown Bag Lunches

City Church of Christ members gathered together after services on Sunday, December 21st, 2008 to walk up Commercial Drive, eventually heading over to the downtown Eastside to feed the homeless, addiction afflicted and others in need.  The downtown Eastside hub, also known as the “Main & Hastings” hub is notorious for its ongoing issues of homelessness, prostitution and addiction afflicted souls of our city.  The City Church of Christ has made an effort to reach out to these souls and teach them the love of Jesus, His salvation and give them hope for change.  On this day we fed over 100 people and had nearly not enough food.  Our goal in the future is to feed upwards of 500.  Statistically this still will not feed everyone who gathers in this area on a daily basis…

Welcome!

City Church of Christ is a fellowship providing ongoing service to the communities of the Greater Vancouver area. Our purpose is to meet regularly to worship the Almighty God, to spread the Good News during the week and to teach people about Jesus Christ and His promise of eternal salvation.

We continually strive to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit, get together for Christian fellowship, remove ourselves once a week from the “world” to meditate on His Word, share love, strengthen our faith and provide support to souls who are searching. It is our conviction as Christians that we are to be a shining light in a dark world, and we hope that those who visit us find a place of love, peace, joy, tranquility, remission and repentance, and a family with open arms. Our worship service consists of new and traditional hymns & praises, prayer, scripture readings and lessons followed by the communion of remembrance and reflection of our Saviour Jesus Christ.nsunset

Food Drive

Feeding the hungry is a priority we cannot ignore.
City Church has committed to donating to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank on a monthly basis.  A percentage of contributions is collected each month to help feed the hungry.  Why not join our campaign and we can increase what we give.  Hunger is a world wide problem that starts in your own back yard.  Lets work together to feed others.

For information on how you can help please talk to Christina after worship services or email citychurchofchrist@yahoo.com with “Food Bank” in the subject line.

Study Tools

“Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the Scriptures to us?” Luke 24:32

At City Church of Christ we realize that one of the most important aspects of Christian life is the need to continue learning and further understand God’s purpose in our lives no matter what age we are or where in the world we are. We’d like to contribute to these needs and support Christians as well as seekers with information that is accessible at any time by providing “Study Tools”.  Below is a collection of resources and information provided by various individuals who have made Biblical studies a part of their every day service to God and reaching out to others.  We hope you will take advantage of the materials provided below to enhance and supplement your regular Bible studies as well as deepening your faith through the Word.

We will continually add links and resources that we feel will help enrich your study of the Holy Bible, whether for your personal or group studies.  God bless you.

City Church of Christ Blog

On the first few days of each month, this City Church of Christ Blog publishes words of encouragement to the congregation. For general information on the background of the Restoration Movement and specific Biblical calls to Restoration, please see the article “Restoration” (archived under August 2006). To learn why the Scriptures are a historically and factually reliable testament to humanity even today, please see “The Scriptures” (June 2006). To meditate further on why Jesus Christ died on the cross, please see “The Cross” (May 2006) and “The Saviour” (April 2006). If you would like to become a Christian, but are not sure of what you should do, have a look at “The Road to Salvation” (March 2006) and “Keys to Eternity” (also March 2006), or come and visit us at City Church of Christ or contact the Minister or Evangelist for details.
